One of the industry’s biggest groups continues to expand, with new members highly motivated to join a group that doesn’t charge franchise fees or insist on restrictive rules.

One Agency now has over 600 agents in Australasia, after recruiting four more in the past month – Elli Birnie (Brighton-Le-Sands, NSW), Jeff Chang (Parramatta, NSW), Hazel McGinty (Gosnells, WA) and Samantha Richards, (Toronto, NSW).

Furthermore, several of One Agency’s existing licensees in New Zealand have expanded their businesses by taking on new territories including Renate and Daniel Ochse in the Far North have expanded into Napier, while Ian Croft in Pukekohe has expanded into Papatoetoe.

Jeff Chang, who won RateMyAgent’s agent of the year for Parramatta in 2020, has moved from agent to principal after seven years in the industry.

“A lot of real estate agencies are using business models that worked 10-20 years ago, but aren’t as relevant today. I wanted to start a business that placed a much greater emphasis on customer service,” he said.

“With One Agency, I not only get a great brand and great marketing, I also pay lower fees and have more control, which means I can provide better service to my market.”

Hazel McGinty, after many years with Ray White, simply said it was an ‘Absolute NO BRAINER in joining One Agency’.

Elli Birnie, who has been a sales agent for the past 18 years, decided to step up to principal because she wanted the freedom to run her own business, and to do it from a home office.

“When I decided it was time to go out on my own, I explored a few different options, and the different commission splits. What I loved about One Agency was that you don’t have to pay a cent in commissions; instead, you get charged a modest monthly fee,” she said.

“I love the fact that instead of working for someone else, I get to work for myself. And I’m not required to get an expensive office on the main street – I can work from home.

“At the same time, I’m part of a group, so if I’ve got a problem, there’s always someone to call. This is going to make my future career more enjoyable and more profitable.”

Sam Richards, after working for other agents’ businesses for 31 years, is very excited to finally be independent in her own real estate business.

Renate and Daniel Ochse, who’ve held a One Agency licence since 2016, have expanded into Napier.

They said the One Agency model allows them to run a more successful and profitable business.

“We enjoy being part of a brand with offices in three countries and yet being as independent as we choose to be whilst staying within the framework of the One Agency brand standards,” they said.

“All of our team are successful in their own right. They are self-motivated, experienced and love the autonomy of working from home without the constraints that traditional real estate models place on their teams.

“We also offer them a higher commission split than the other agencies, which is all part of operating a different business model. All in all, we are a happy team due to the flexibility we have within the brand, and this in itself is key to our success to date.”
